| The Great Circle is indicated by the small red dots. The two locations I began with were my own Oregon home, 44.077 North and 123.085 West, indicated by the one balloon marker on the map, and the location of a ham friend of mine Bob, KF5FAI, very near New Orleans, at coordinates: 29.96203 North and 90.22242 West. I wrote programs in Mathcad and Excel, to calculate the parameters of a Great Circle defined by any two points; and also give the bearing angle from the first location. The distance (along great circle arc) between the two locations is also calculated. |
